Atlantic Flight Centre

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the atlantic flight centre in Cork. I couldn't see whether or not you can do theory there. If not where can you do it and is it much different to the UK version.

Also do they have a very strong tie with airlines such as Ryanair.

cheers

P.S I am having to re-think my flight training so ignore all posts of where I may have been going to go!

I know a guy who is training there, and know of a few others. They are all very positive about the flight school. With regards to ATPL theory, I'm not fully sure. I think that they might give you some classroom instruction, but you'd have to ask them about that. Have a look at the Flying In Ireland Forums @ www.flyinginireland.com/forum and I presume you've looked at their website at www.atlanticair.ie They are a bit on the small side so you would have to check what their aircraft availability is like. Have a look at PTC in Waterford @ www.pilottraining.ie aswell and there is a forum about them on PPRuNe.

I don't think their links with the airlines would be that strong. A lot of graduates go into instructing, while the instructors move onto airlines. It depends if they are willing to pay for a TR or not. Ryanair would take them on if they paid for a TR, while Cityjet might be a possibility. Aer Arann aren't recruiting at the moment so that's not an option, but will be in a few years. I've heard they're getting 10 new ATRs. Of course, if you are willing to pay for a TR, there is always GECAT, and you could land a job with easyJet.

I'll try to get one of the students at Atlantic to send you a PM. If you have any other questions, send me a PM and I'll try to answer them, or pass them on. If you decide to visit the school, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to welcome you to the People's Republic, and maybe go up in the air for an hour.

All the best
