Multi Piston Time or Citation Rating

It will be another year before I get to 700 hours , the minimum for single pilot ops, however most air taxi jobs still require a minimum of at least 50 hours p1 multi time (often more), now the cheapest hour build rate I have seen for twin time in the US is about just over a 100 pounds an hour. Therefore it will cost at least 5-6000 pounds to build the necessary twin time, I understand it is possible to get a citation rating for the region of 8-9000.

Doing part time instruction it seems it will be ages before I'll ever get the restriction lifted, hence why I am not considering the MEI upgrade.

Just wondering if any one had any opinions on which is the better option? Twin time in hope of getting air taxi work or go for the citaiton rating?
