Night Rating

I've go a FAA PPL and hopefully soon enough, I will be doing CPL/IR course.
My question is, do I need to to a night rating, eventhough its part of my PPL course in the States???
Thanks...

I assume you are talking about a JAR CPL in which case you need Night Qualification (no longer called a night rating). If you have a night qual on your FAA PPL it may transfer across or you may have to do the 5 hour course before CPL issue.

You may be able to transfer this, but bear in mind that you must have one BEFORE starting the IR course.
