About the Gliding Range

The gliding Range would increase with a high or lowL/D ratio and Angle of Attack?

High angle of attack with minimum l/d ratio?

I should say like this right? Cause I cant have at the same time a high l/d ratio with high angle of attack..

DTTogaLi,

You increased glide performance with a higher L/D ratio.

Have a look at this page and it might make things easy to understand.

Hope it helps.

glide ratio = L:D ratio

They are always identical in a steady-state glide (i.e. at constant speed).

And in level flight you get best L/D at minimum drag speed. This will be at about 4deg alpha on a conventional aerofoil. In a glide, lift required is less than for level flight, so you should reduce your speed from Vimd as you now need less speed to balance the reduced lift while holding 4deg alpha. It makes very little difference in glide angles down to 15deg, so you can keep Vimd and be happy. In steeper glides you should reduce speed by a factor proportional to W times Cos(glide angle)

or change wing profile!if not close latches and doors, and get rid of these stupid VOR antennas(useless with a GPS).
ad some wax on your wing.
