Converting a JAA ATPL to FAA

I know most people are trying to convert their licenses in the opposite direction, but hope someone in here can advise me ...

I already hold a UK (JAA) and New Zealand ATPL, and now I need an FAA one for a job that I've (maybe) been offered in the middle east.

What's the cheapest and most effective method of getting my mitts on an FAA license? Do I have to do yet ANOTHER set of written exams etc?

Can the conversion be done in the UK, or do you have to go to America for it?

if you have a full ATPL, you will need to take one written (definitely doable) and one checkride. Also FAA Medical is required to exercise the privileges.

Right now it has to be done in the US.
