FAA to UK ATPL

I'm hoping someone has ideas on this...........

I have a few thousand hours in the left seat of CRJ200 in the US. On completion of the ATPL writtens I have to do a FPC with a CAA TRE. The closest sim I know of is at Lufthansa in Frankfurt.
The CAA want to charge 1400 pounds per day for a TRE plus all travel, board and expenses. I also have to rent a sim for approx 3 hrs ( 1800euros ) as well as all my own expenses.

Not sure what I will have to do to remain current if I am stuck flying in the US for a while.

Would be grateful for any info or alternative ideas.
