Transfer ICAO to JAA ATPL?

Hi,

I've tried looking in LASORS, but I just want to confirm what I think they say with people who are in the know or who have already gone though the pain...

If you were to have a non-JAA ATPL (A) or (H), issued by a non-JAA state (let's say Aus or NZ), what is needed to transfer the licence to the JAA system?

If you have fewer than the minimum necessary hours for the JAA then I gather you need to do all the training, exams, skill test etc. I'm more interested in what happens if you were to work there for some years and then wanted to return to a JAA state and therefore needed to transfer to a JAA licence.

What happens if you have more than 1500 hours (500 hours on type), IR etc? What exemptions are made? I think from LASORS that you are only exempted the training before having to do all the exams and skill test. Is this the case?

Thanks for any information offered,

SBW

Transfers

If you don't have above 1500hrs, the requirements are:

Pass all 14 JAA ATPL subjects,

Complete training as necessary to pass the JAA CPL, and pass the test.

Complete 15hrs of ME IR Training to pass the JAA IR, and pass the test.

Rough costings: about 10k.

LASORS is the most up-to-date book. If this still doesn't help contact Airways Flight Training, UK 01392 364216, they specialise in Foreign and Military Conversions.
