Regular Pilot Assessments

Hi all,

Please correct me if im wrong but the class one medical is done anually until the age of 40, when it is then done every 6 months. Also certain aspects of the class one medical are only done every few years (like the brain scan).

If any of that is wrong please let me know. BUT, the thing im unclear on is if/how often airline pilots are checked/assessed for their flying competence/safety. Is it every 6 months? and who does it?

thanks all.

Annual medical checks up untill your 40th birthday. From then on, every 6 months.

Brain scans? Never done one, never on a renewal. Need a brain to scan I s'pose.

Hearing, eyes, cholesterol and ECG are done every X number of years. It's on the form.

Medicals are done by AME. Doctors who've done approved aviation medical courses and are recognised by your licensing authority. eg UK CAA.
