SE I/R to Multi I/R

A quick question for you!!
If I hold a single engine I/R, can I convert it to multi I/R after the 36 month period from finishing the ATPL writtens? I've got 7 months left and not sure I want to invest in a multi I/R at the moment.

Cheers in advance

Yes you can, provided your Single IR is valid. You would have to do a Multi course at the same time if you do not hold an MEP rating

Thanks for that, sounds like good news. I do already have a JAA Multi CPL, I just don't want the ATPL's to lapse and have to do them again and I'm not sure an airline career is for me at the moment. However who knows how I'll feel in the years to come.

Cheers
