Working for myself
Hi
Apologies if this is the wrong forum.
I currently have a JAR PPL (A) and am building hours towards my CPL. My question is this. Can I use a CPL/IR for use on my OWN plane with P/T CofA for the carriage of fare paying passenger (pleasure flights etc) ?
Is it simply a case of getting the CPL, getting required insurance and then advertising ?
Is the above possible ? Legal ? Or will the cost of the insurance etc be too prohibitive ?
Sorry for all the questions but I really have no idea where to start.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Not as you stand at the moment you can't.
To operate pleasure flights.....First you'll need an aircraft with a Public CofA. Second of all you'll need a company with an AOC (air operators certificate). Thirdly, you'll need to undergo further training, usually fire and smoke, first aid and 10 sectors with a training captain.
It is a minefield and unless you like ballache I would steer clear.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about the AOC or the additional training, but this still sounds cheaper than forking out around 50K for an ATPL and then perhaps never getting a job.
The issue of an AOC is £5000 (providing I've read the CAA documents right), so this doesn't seem too bad.
Anyone know of any "specialist firms" who would offer advise on how to set something like this up ?
Thanks again
