JAA conversion start to finish: how quickly?
Can anyone give a ballpark figure (time) about how long it would take to come to the UK with an ICAO ATPL and do the conversion process? I have exemption from the MCC course and would be working in the UK (non-aviation) whilst completing the training.
I have about 3600 TT with 2000 light turbine, 3000 PIC, 2600 multi, and have been looking at Oxford and ETA.
Thanks for any perspectives!

Not JAR but it might help give you an idea:
I had 3700 hrs when I converted to a UK ATPL in '99, just prior to JAR implementation. I did two theory courses for the exams of 6 & 8 weeks + exam week after each, and under 10 hrs flying over 1 1/2 weeks including the required CPL & IR flight tests. I started the 1st theory course in June & finished the last exam around Oct. As said, the flying took less than a fortnight.
JAR has requirements about how much theory & flight instruction you will have to do. Theory course time can be variable depending on what allowances the theory school will give you. You will have to do a min. of 15 (?) hrs for the IR conversion + possibly some amount for the CPL licence test. It might be possible to include prep. for the CPL test in your IR prep.

Hi there. I haven't got any personal experience of ICAO-JAR conversions but I do know that the guys who I did all my training with specialise in various conversions, including ICAO. The manager, Jerry, knows most of LASORS inside out so I'm sure would be able to provide you with exact detail of what you need to do and how long it would take. Suggest you drop him a line at [email protected] Alternatively there may be some detail about it on their website www.flightpass.co.uk
Cheers

Are you thinking about full time or part time while you work???
Part time while working ball park of a year at least, otherwise with friends over here helping you out like myself and AS 6 months or so.
Then the flying portion, you are looking at least 3 weeks and with schools in the south months, and trying to take money from you..
Send me a message I will give you my new email
