Aptitude and Mental Capacity
Anyone got any tips on how to improve you're skills before you get into flying? Obviously there's little you can do with regard to general handling skills, but I'm talking about mental capacity...
Anyone know any good books, exercises, computer programs? Stuff that will improve mental arithmatic, multi-tasking, information retreaval... that sort of thing?
Epecially quick speed/distance/time stuff, challenges to set yourself like a daily mental workout?

Thats a good question
A lot of this is about the capacity absorbed by 'emotion' that is to say if you have been financially sh@fted by the FBO you are flying for, you've had a row with the wife, the cats just died, and the FI is talking over ATC instructions and boll0cking you then that will affect your performance. A lot of this stuff is psychological - thats why the ILS is better off being flown by a computer.....
Examiners fail you nicely though so dont get disheartened
Also rehearse what you will do that day prior planning and prep revents pi55 poor performance
Speaking from personal experience a goods nights sleep, well hydrated (flying can dehydrate you fast), lay off the hard stuff, full english
