Question are there CAA examiners (still) in the US?

Hello All!

It is this time of a year again where I have to think about renewing my CAA(UK) ATPL (again). I am living in the US right now and I used to renew it with a CAA examiner who used to work somewhere in Michigan. He is no longer there and I would like to know if any of you know a CAA examiner who can renew my license.

Thanks,

You could try Iain Davidson in Scottsdale, Arizona he operates out of Sabena Flight Academy to the best of my knowledge.
Also there is Paul Thompson who is based in Florida. I have an email for him if you need it PM me and I can also pass on the phone number for Sabena.

Piers Smerdon did my CPL flight test last year and he is a good bloke to fly with.

Last I heard he was working at the Delta Academy in Florida...

7 7 7 7,

What exactly are you looking to renew/revalidate? SEP, MEP class rating or your IR?

You can contact these examiners for your renewal/revalidation:

A J Sinha at UKFT
A Thompson at Ormond Beach Aviation
Andrew McLaird at Naples Air Center
Ben Wood at European Flight Training
Iain Davidson at Sabena Flight Academy
Jatin Gaur at Naples Air Center/Britannia Flight Centre
Mark Issott at Orlando Flight Training
Paul Thompson at (PM me for his phone number/email)
Pierse Smerdon at Orlando Flight Training
Steve Fisher at International Flight Training Academy
Trevor Brackston at European Flight Training

My apologies if I missed out one of the examiners name. Out of all the examiners listed only I Davidson, P Thompson, P Smerdon and S Fisher can do the IR skill test.

Good luck.

Iain Davidson is not an IRE.

He cannot do the instrument renewal.

Thumbs up

Thank you all for your replies!

I need to renew (or revalidate - not sure what the correct term is yet ) my CAA ATPL (MEP + IR) before converting it to a full JAA ATPL. I haven't dealt with the CAA folks for years. It might get interesting ...

MAKE SURE that you renew before the rating has expired by five years (i.e. - six years from last test date).

Big dramas if it goes any longer than that.

(Renew if the rating has expired, Revalidate if it's still current).
