Long Way vs. Quick Way
Which is better,getting your ratings the old fashioned way or going to an ab initio program like Flight Safety or Comair Flight Academy?These schools promise to get an airline job faster with little or no time wasted on flight instructing.So can you really get a right hand seat on a CRJ with as little as 500 hours?

There are many different factors which affect whether you are able to get a job with low hours (CRJ or other), not the least of which is being in the right place at the right time. To be in the right place at the right time, of course, is a persistence and determination issue, not a luck issue, in general, but you just never know!
Many threads (mostly regarding Oxford Aviation Training over here in the UK) have debated the chances or otherwise of finding work faster after an ab-initio program as promised by the marketing departments of some such schools, but the results are pretty inconclusive - some people do and most don't. It's affected by who's hiring, too and don't forget that you don't come out of an ab-initio course with a type rating so it would need to be an airline that would offer some sort of training structure into the bargain. This is assuming they don't just want to hire already type-rated pilots, of which there are generally a very large number queuing up before the vacancies even exist!
But you probably know about all of that anyway, and if you don't - don't let it put you off; the whole point is that your desire for the job is so great that your persistence and determination will naturally follow.
