FI and MEIR training

Dear All,

I was hoping to use your vasts knowledge to make the right choices on my FI and MEIR training.

I am currently looking for flight schools and was hoping you could recommend the best places for me to gain my qualifications.

The main criteria is price (cheapest please) and employability.

At present I am looking at Aerofan in Mardrid. There prices are as follows:-

IR = 4357 Euro (£3000) MEIR = 8399 Euro (£5700)

In addition, i have conducted all my training thus far in Australia, but have now returned to England where i am converting my Commercial back to JAA. I have had little exposure of the UK or European market, so i was after any information on how hard and any tips in gaining that all too important first FI position.

Finally, having gained my commercial 160 hours I have noticed that undertake the FI course you require 200 hours total time and 100 solo. Can anyone recommend the best way to gain this additional 40 hours of flying in the cheapest and most productive way.

thanks all for all your kind help!

Happy flying
Lee.

One question: do you intend to look for instructing jobs in the UK? If so, consider how a school is going to look at someone who has learnt in Australia and Spain except for a short CPL course.

Most people do the IR before the FI(R). That would bring you above 200 hours, as will be required in any case for the issue of your JAA CPL.
