Recs for Atlantic Flight Training?

Hi,

Thanks everyone for the feedback on my previous question.
I have received good feedback on Bristol and Cranfield, however
I have received no feedback on Atlantic Flight in Conventry.

Does anyone have any feedback on them.

Thanks for your help,
Ed.

I wouldnt recommend them - they dont have enough groundschool instructors so it takes ages for you to get feedback on assessments and you dont get much attention when you go in for the classroom element. Bristol on the other hand is a much better alternative altogether

Well I have actually used them for both distance learning and for flight training and while I have no direct experience of Bristol or Cranfield I have done both distance learning and flight training at other schools in the UK so I do have something to compare them with. I found AFT very helpful and flexible and my average score in the written exams (with all first time passes) was over 90 % so they must be doing something right !

I would also rate their flight training as second-to-none from personal experience.

I found all the management staff extremely helpful and honest and they were "up-front" about all the costs, so there were no nasty surprises. Even the tea and coffee is free to students.

I suggest you visit them and form your own opinion.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have specific questions I might be able to answer.

Well I dont know about the groundschool - the instructors seemed helpful enough but I cannto recommend the flight training side. They seem cheap enough in comparison to other schools in terms of cost per hour but everyones course seems to overrun on hours and costs spiral to way more than you planned for at the outset. It could of course be that I wasnt that good but having asked around it seems to have been the experience of a lot of the other people that have been there.

Re the flight training I think it depends very much on which instructor you get there (and there arent many to choose from).
The CFI although a bit morose knows his stuff but the instructor I had didnt seem to be very experienced and seemed more keen to race off home than to help with any queries you had at the end of the day.

I have to agree with AliRonns. My course overran considerably and cost me loads more than I had budgeted for (I hadnt had any problems like that with any other training providers I had used in the past). The other problem with them is that they only have one aircraft so that if it goes tech then your course is likely to overrun timewise.

Cranfield Aviation Training School !!!

Paid a visit to AFT and must say i wasn't to impressed, to many 'maybe's' and 'mights'.
Im studing at CATS at Cranfield at the moment and have no complaints.........
Get yourself down and have a look round and a chat it will be well worth it......

I agree with QNH 1013 and others re. Atlantic Flight Training. Did CPL/IR with 'em and the level of instruction is second to none. Even now, after I have left, they still have time for me when I drop by to ask questions/advice etc. or to borrow Atlantic 43 for an hour... I didn't do ATPL with them but I saw some of their mock exam papers and they were damn good.

As QNH 1013 recommends, the best thing to do is to pay them a visit, and you'll probably be impressed.

Cheers
