100 PiC or 150 TT to start CPL ?

Hi all

I'm getting conflicting info on hours required to start the CPL course (not issue of a CPL). The school I'm looking at using is saying I need 100 hours PiC where as LASORS seems to suggest that 150 hours TT is the requirement. Does anyone have a definative answer ?

Many thanks

From what I understand it is not an either/or situation.

AFAIK you need 150hrs TT of which 100hrs must be PIC.

I could be wrong though.

EDIT: By chance my instructor just phoned me, and his interpretation is that you need to have 150hrs TT to start the training, but that you need 100hrs PIC to sit the skills test. But like me he isn't 100% sure as he's never come across anyone with less than 150hrs or 100PIC starting a CPL modular course.

Regards,
Gordon.

I took and passed the CPL skills test (modular) before I had 100 hours PIC and before I had done the 300 nm QXC. At the atart of the CPL course (25 hours Pu/t) I had the required 150 hours TT. For licence issue, you need 200 hours TT of which 100 must be PIC.

And I know someone else who took and passed the CPL/MEP/IR skills tests (modular) and still didn't have 100 PIC

The only requirement for starting your CPL modular is to have completed the 150 hours TT.

The requirement for 100 hours P1 is not for the date of test, but for when the application for a CPL is recieved at Gatwick. The same applies to the Night Qualification training completed, 300 nm XC, 10 hours instruments, etc all need to have been completed by the date of application.

I can't confirm this, but I believe an application for a licence must be recieved at Gatwick within 6 months of a successful skills test, otherwise the test has to be repeated. Like I say, not too sure about this one though.

Correct, Gus. I lost my class 1 in a car accident and because the licence cannot be issued without a valid medical, and nearly missed the 6 months

LASORS Section D1.4

"For the purposes of licence issue, the skills test will remain valid for 12 months"

Therefore 12 months in which to apply for the bit of paper
