Flight training in South africa
Hey Guys!
Does anyone have experiences with flight schools in South Africa?
Especially with Aptrac? (www.aptrac.com)
Is this a serious offer? The concept looks not that bad and the prices are very fair. About 20000€ for PPL and CPL incl. Accomodation and meals....!?
What about the conversions from the South african CPL to the new european JAR-FCL rules? Any difficulties?
Kind regards
Mawi

I did my PPL in SA. It is a fantastic place to learn to fly and offers good value for money both in terms of cost of training and living. The scenery is awesome and there are plenty of things to do on your days off.
I've never heard of this school, which doesn't mean anything. Try posting in the African forum, you'll get more guys in the know over there.
As far as converting goes, an SA CPL/IR theoretically converts to a JAA one with the 15 hr conversion. If you search this forum you'll find a good man Vortex Thing. He has done it. You will have to write the JAA exams as far as I know.
Cheers
