for a beam balance what arm would be required to balance a 337kg mass acting over 6 feet using a 10 pound mass

6 ft x 10lbs = 60ft/lb

337kg = 742lbs

60ft/lbs = arm x 742lbs

60ft/742 = arm = 0.8086ft or 0.97 inch

NB,

The way I read the question, it is the 337kg which is acting over 6ft, not the 10lb as per your answer...

I think the 337kg is 6ft from the pivot in this question..

If so, then the balance arm will be 445.37 feet.

(337 x 6)/4.54

BTW gphillips134 are you asking because you don't know, or are you trying to test us??
