Books

Hi Folks!

Do you have any favourite aviation books for engineering, testing, wx, wannabees etc...?

I'm making a best of aviation books list for beginners to profs.

Hear you on the frequency,

and many happy landings in 2004!!!

There's a couple that spring to mind. For the new wannabe, i would recommend:

Flying the Big Jets, by Stanley Stewart
Emergency, by Stanley Stewart

A bit more advanced would be:

Handling the Big Jets by Davies

For those preparing for the ATPLs, I would say:

Jet Engines by Klaus Hunecke
Mechanics of Flight by A.C. Kermode

Thx Guys...!

Beside those books for PPL/CPL/ATPL students - I'm also looking for more detailed books for "aerospace engineering students and pros".

Maybe we have a few Engineers like FTEs (=Flight Test Engineers) among us?

Flight Dynamics Principles by MV Cook (great intro text)

Aircraft stability and control by Babister (written by and for TPs and FTEs)

Helicopter Test & Evaluation by AK Cooke & EWH Fitzpatrick (written by ETPS guys)

Aircraft Control & Simulation by Stevens & Lewis

Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems by Franklin, Powell et al.

Fundamentals of Aerodynamics by Anderson (the only text you'll need for all your aerodynamic needs)

pretty damn expensive though...

Climatology for Airline Pilots by Quantick looks an interesting read but I am not paying 35 quid for a book.
