Structured Modular Training Programmes?

Structured Modular Training Programmes?
Hello,
I have been recently pondering the big question as to whether to take the integrated route or the modular route. I was browsing the BGS website and I read about Structured Modular Training Programmes.

This, to me, seems to be the perfect solution in that it should be a cheaper route than the integrated whilst ending up with more hours. Surely run as a full time course, you will maintain consistency (as integrated) and it won't take much longer than the fully integrated method. Is this the case, or am I missing something?
BGS also recommend a number of companies that run Structured Modular training.

Are there any other companies other than CTC, Multiflight, Professional Air Training, Bristol Flying Centre who run the scheme? I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with such programmes and what are (in your opinion) the ones that should be recommended and ones that should left well alone?

There are quite a few more available but I left them off the website because they don't recommend our groundschool! Off the top of my head Stapleford offer a course with several different contracted training providers which is substantially the same as the ones on the site. Schools such as Cabair, BCFT and (possibly) Oxford offer structured programmes without using external contractors.
One of the main advantages of the Modular route is that you can choose the best training providers at each stage of your training. Structured modular routes remove that element of choice but do give you the advantage of a seamless training program. Most structured programs are set up by IR schools who want to lead you towards their courses, rather than anyone elses, for the IR and possibly the GFT. They normally make little or no profit from the PPL, hours building etc.
If you choose a course like this make sure they have a reasonable number of people going through the system. Some of the smaller schools have structured modular courses that exist only on paper, they have never ever had a real customer! As always, avoid paying large lump sums up front and pay with a credit card.

Atlantic Flight Training (www.flyaft.com) also do the structured modular route. Check it out!
