Ground School UK.

I am in Australia completing my CPL(H). I have to return to the UK and complete CPL theory. I do not want to classroom study the CPL (H) syllabus as I have already done it. I would like to sit the exams only and self study. Is this possible? How are the exam bookings made? I am aware I can do ATPL but have opted to sit the CPL exams and do ATPL later. Any help would be appreciated.

We hesitate to intervene in case we get accused of selling our own school, but no one else has answered. Our advice is that you will have to complete your training and enter the exams through an approved FTO. So look through the list of distance learning FTOs, talk to them, and see what they say.

Hughey,

There are a number of approved FTO, have a look at the caa website' www.srg.caa.co.uk ' but also ask around. I can say ( having just finished ATPL A ) that I got it down to two schools. No 1 school was Oxford followed by Bristol, although if you look at recent posts I think Bristol has now taken the No1 slot. You say you want to do CPL first and then ATPL. Why ? . Are you aware that there is no upgrade from CPL to ATPL, you will have to do the whole ATPL exams after getting CPL. I would suggest you put the extra work in ( about 30%, i'm told ) and go for the ATPL.

Also,
Don't forget that CPL theory doesn't cover IR, you will have to study for IR also if needed. ATPL theory covers both CPL/ATPL and IR.

Hughey

Dick W quite rightly refrains from naming the establishment where he lectures, but I don't have to. Contact Bristol Ground School, and they will see you right. Did the biz for me!
