US visas

With effect from October 1st, 2003, no citizen of any existing Visa Waiver Programme eligible country will be allowed entry into the United States without a valid U.S. visa unless he or she holds a valid machine-readable passport. In addition, families will be required to obtain individual passports for each traveller should they wish to travel visa free. If you are unsure of what documents you require to gain entry to the U.S., please contact your nearest U.S. consulate or embassy.

Actually, my new passport (British) has no machine readable section on the bottom of the photo page, I am not sure if this is common, but it does mean I for one (and probably many others) will have some issues.

Can anybody look at their British passport. and tell me - do they have a machine readable bit at the bottom?

Looks something like:

<<<<<< TRIUM1 <<<.... (etc) as I recall from my last passport

Could be problems for some us
