I fear that your biggest problem will be finding a syndicate that is willing to accept a student that wants to use their aircraft for training.

You may also find the CAA's own Summary of the Meaning of Public Transport and Aerial Work useful.

Hi Fujiabound and Twizzle,

Few points.

The additional training for tailwheel; wobbly prop etc is not for the grant of an initial licence so no problem there.

Point re differences between PT and Pvt C of A has some validity but you may consider that many mounts are on a Pvt C of A to avoid the need to have a new engine at TBO.

Even if all is complied with and no additional changes have to be made to the hardware a change commands a fee of the CAA. Believe that you do well if you get any change out of half a grand.

Im just curious here, before you all start to throw insults at me... lol

Is it possible to hire an aircraft and tehn pay an instructor to train for the PPL.

Just curious

This seems to be one of those tpics which the CAA like to complicate. There's English, then there's CAA Language

Yes

And you can do the same for your skills test, LPC etc etc.

Is it possible to hire an aircraft and then pay an instructor to train for the PPL?
Again, like previous posts, the answer is yes .... but .....

Most aircraft owners will not hire to student pilots, only licence holders.
The aircraft that you hire, will have to be on Public Transport C of A.
Any prudent instructor will need to check, that the aircraft owner is aware that the aircraft is to be used for instruction & presumably also for the student flying it solo.
The instructor should also check that the aircraft is fully insured for instruction & student flying solo. (Aircraft not owned by schools, are often only insured for qualified pilots).
Most reputable schools, insure their intructors, but in this case the instructor would have to do this himself.

You may save a bit via this route, if you can find a cheap aircraft to hire & a cheap instructor. Otherwise, in most instances the seperate costs of aircraft hire, plus instructor, will be much the same as the charge for the 2 together, from your local school.
