GPS Data base update
This is a two part question
Firstly, I have a a Garmin Pilot III and would like to update the data base. Is the update available online? I have a 'data link cable' but what software do I need for my PC inorder to do the update? Secondly, what are the consequences of using an out of date data base (VFR). As far as I know the gps will be just as accurate as when I bought it for navigational purposes, presumably the only changes are to the moving map, airspace and airfield information? |
Try the Garmin website
www.garmin.com The downloads for software upgrades are free, and the downloads for the Jepp databases are about 37 dollars. (You are better of with a broadband connection though, but its not a problem with a slower link.) Follow the instructions on the screen and its a doddle! I keep my 195 updated like this and carry it as a standby. - You never know! |
