Scenic shots
Inspired by the VMC on top thread is anyone interested in showing their scenic shots? After all, the views are a large reason we fly.
Here are a few I took last summer on a flight around Yorkshire, they are 'point and hope' so excuse the quality. Marks if you can identify the locale. http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...purnPointS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...hire/HullS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...hire/BridS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...roughHeadS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...amboroughS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...amboroughS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...rborough2S.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...versMountS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...azoneParkS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...byHarbourS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...okingeastS.jpg http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...tleHowardS.jpg |

Hi Shortstripper,
Your photos, are they... 1) Chichester Harbour (overhead Fishborne ish) 2) Chichester Marina 3) Bosham, Thorney Island, Portsmouth 4) Pagham Harbour Cheers, |
I wouldn't have liked to be toddling along that road in Arizona when the meteor came down....
|
Flybymike,
I agree. You would not believe how small the meteor was that made such a big hole. I was the silly b***** who drove for miles to see it when a 20 minute detour a couple of days earlier could have got an aerial photo. What's more the Eagles song "Take it easy" glamourises the town. Of Winslow in a way it does not deserve. D.O. |

Of Winslow in a way it does not deserve. D.O. wikipedia also says: On August 8, 1964, a pair of commercial pilots in a Cessna 150 flew low over the crater. On crossing the rim, they could not maintain level flight. The pilot attempted to build up speed by circling in the crater to climb over the rim. During the attempted climb out, the aircraft stalled, crashed, and caught fire. It is commonly reported that the plane ran out out of fuel, but this is incorrect. Both occupants were severely injured but survived their ordeal.[24] A small portion of the wreckage not removed from the crash site remains visible to this day. |
I read (locally) that the meteor was more like 10m across?
I've been there (sometime after it hit, admittedly) and the place is ISA plus god knows what, so it is amazing a C150 stayed airborne at all :) I did my FAA IR in Arizona though a bit further north. |
Great Thread!! I have loads but I format in 1024 for photo bucket, unfortunately I have been warned but mods not to post that size so can't put them on here.
