New Bloke 12th September 2000 15:56

PPRuNe Fly-in

How About it, is it too late this season, we could all stand and admire Beaglers Beagle, R22's R22, lowNslow's Cub.

Any ideas about where or when?

R22 12th September 2000 16:49

Good idea New Bloke. Why not find out where everybody's based, then pick somewhere we can all get to easily. I fly out of Shobdon, as you've probably gathered by now. what about about everyone else who might be interested?

Unusual Attitude 12th September 2000 16:59

Great idea !, I'm trying to hour build at the moment and am running out of things to do/places to go !!

I fly from Aberdeen but am willing to travel out of Scotland, Newcastle is a good mid-point and has an excellent night life !!!

Just a though !

Regards

rightstuffer 12th September 2000 18:03

Brilliant idea.
Can I suggest Sherburn in Elmet? V friendly; busy clubhouse with no landing fee if you uplift a bit of fuel. Easy to find from north or south and no controlled airspace to speak of. :) :)

What about a date....?

stiknruda 12th September 2000 18:06

I would be up for this!

I am based at a private strip in S Norfolk.

sNr

R22 12th September 2000 18:27

I'd go for Sherburn-in-Elmet. Nice place, and reasonably central for the whole country.

Squawk 8888 12th September 2000 18:28

How about a fly-in on this side of the pond? Most of Ontario will be stunning in a few weeks and there are good airfields in Waterloo, Lindsay and Tillsonburg.

New Bloke 12th September 2000 18:34

As far as I am concerned, anything further north than sheffield is out as I would have to buy a new chart :)

I think it should be commutable in as much as we should be able to get there and back in a day. I fly out of Redhill, this weekend is out 'cause of the Battle of Britian at Biggin, I think I am booked the weekend after that (last Cricket Match of the season ) but after that would be fine.

The problem is nights will be closeing in by then.

Should we look for a place with hard runways, we wouldn't want a weeks rain before the event to put it off. We need to get Infinretirement to organise this, If he does I can give him a lift to the event.

New Bloke 12th September 2000 20:09

How About Calais???

Sunday 1st October. Last one there is a cissy...

rightstuffer 12th September 2000 20:22

I think over the channel would be great for next season, but that Channel is an awful barrier for one-day VFR events!!

What about Sherburn on Saturday 30 Sep? A Saturday might give us all the extra day to get back, just in case of wx but Sun is fine for me too. If anyone wants a lift, I can collect up to 3 pax from a radius of 50 miles from Sherburn (effectively anywhere in Lincs, Notts, Yorks and bits of Derbys, Leics, Rutland etc.)

New Bloke 12th September 2000 20:34

Okay,

You talked me into it.

Sherburn
Saturday 30th Sep 2000

See you all there....now, where can I get a "nothern Git" chart :)

LowNSlow 12th September 2000 20:46

Excellent idea but my Cub's Permit has expired and will remain so until I get new wings struts. I can't see this happening for another month so I'll have to pass on this one. definitely up for the next one though. However, if anybody is going from the London/Luton area, I'd love to cadge a lift and split the fuel costs.

New Bloke 12th September 2000 20:48

I have had a look at Nav box and it is about 2 hours flight time (give or take)

I can leave about 9ish, have to be back at Redhill at about 5ish, so what can you do to entertain me for the 4 hours or so I will be there. I quite fancy a go in an R22 (hint hint)

At time of going to press I have 3 spare seats, my missus will probably pass on this one (Paris is one thing, Yorkshire another) so if anyone is close to Redhill and fancies a lift, please drop me a line.

New Bloke 12th September 2000 20:52

Lownslow,

We crossed,

What is your home field, I was thinking of going viastapleford, then between Luton and Stansted up to Bourn, then north from there.

By the way, how do you register last month then get 200 post in???.

rightstuffer 12th September 2000 22:14

Right! Is that it then - Saturday 30 Sept at Sherburn in Elmet for the 'phirst pprune phly-in'? I'm up for it. http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/cool.gif
NewBloke - are you going to open the thread advertising it and getting numbers since it was your brilliant idea. lowNslow, I will be flying up from Denham to Yorkshire on Friday if that's any help. Your'e welcome to a bed for the night in rightstuffer towers......

Wizard Prang wot wot :)

Beagler 12th September 2000 23:22

See ya'all at sherbert in helmet on the 30th

Lownslow... I am thinking of getting there on Friday... could have a night out!

B

stiknruda 13th September 2000 00:58

Sherburn is fine - never been there!!

However the 29th/30th is the PFA Roadshow at Old Buckenham and I've committed to helping out there.

Looks like I'll have to forgo.

sNr

Cahlibahn 13th September 2000 13:13

30th to Sherburn sounds good to me. If Lownslow can get to Top Farm or rv in the Stevenage area I'll have a spare seat....

R22 13th September 2000 13:44

I'll try and make it.

GulfStreamV 13th September 2000 14:30

I shall endeavour to go. A Fuji200.

GV

New Bloke 13th September 2000 14:37

Okay, it's looking good. Is this Sherburn anywhere near Wombleton? The reason I am asking is we could maybe all pop over to the Europa factory (if we asked them nicely).

I have ordered my new chart, so I will have to flight plan using two charts, Nothern Git and Southern Nancy.

Do the people who own this field know we are comming? I'm sure they won't mind but if one of the suggesstors could give them a call, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

If I could have some idea of numbers, Those who are flying up and those who require a lift.

I will have 2 seats available (yes the Missus does want to come) and will be in a Fuji.

So far I think R22 may come in his R22
Beagler will be there in his Beagle
Hungry Pilot will be there in his pentium PIII 800meg with 128 meg of RAM and FS2000 profesional edition.

Shall I put a note in Aircrew Notices ?

New Bloke 13th September 2000 14:44

GulfstreamV.....A Fuji? do we know each other, are we co-owners?

rightstuffer 13th September 2000 15:10

Sherburn in Elmet is West of York, just south of the Linton on Ouse MATZ. If you're following the A1 North, cross the M62 at the Ferrybridge Power Station and its a few miles north-east of there.

I'll undertake to let them know at Sherburn - if there are any problems I'll come straight back.

Are we all wearing carnations and carrying copies of the FT???

I'll be in my AA-5 G-MOGI. Easy to spot, good looking, modest, dashing, rich,(did I mention good looking and modest), debonair etc etc

See y'all there... :) :) :)

Flintstone 13th September 2000 15:50

New Bloke, love the Hungry Pilot comment :)

Is it just me or has he/she gone all quiet lately? Watch for new names, see if you can guess who he comes back as.

arrow2 13th September 2000 18:08

Well my Arrow 4 is sick (needs a new crankcase and a zero timed engine and "loads 'a money") so am trying to persuade "Cityflyer" to get one of her many aircraft so we can join in the party!! Watch this space.

Also suggest a new thread in PPRuNe Bashes forum to draw attention to all and sundry.

GulfStreamV 13th September 2000 18:09

Where are you based?

New Bloke 13th September 2000 18:14

Redhill.

arrow2 13th September 2000 18:15

G5,

If that is for me I am at Blackbushe - CityFlyer is at Little Gransden and Stapleford. Why do you ask??

arrow2

GulfStreamV 13th September 2000 18:17

NB - Well I havn't met you, but you probably know my group, I am in the G-BBRC group at Blackbushe, run by Derek.

GV

arrow2 13th September 2000 18:21

Hi G5,

Yes I know your aircraft well - a long established EGLK group is it not.... I am in the G-BOJI group - one of 10 parked on the "stub" at the Bushe - the silver / white T tailed Arrow.

Kevin ( arrow 2)

CityFlyer 13th September 2000 18:42

Dearest arrow2, it is with deep regret that I will not be able to entertain you with my gut wrenching flying style. I'm off to Old Warden that day to pursue my aerobatics. However, I do have a spare seat in the back of the Chipmunk. Interested? Sick bag supplied. Entertainment guaranteed.

Unusual Attitude 13th September 2000 19:28

I too will have to buy a new southern nancy map but it looks to me like I could do it in about 2 hours or so from Aberdeen in my trusty C172.

As long as the wx is half decent I reckon I could probably make this.

Now then, anyone want picked up on my way south ??

Regards

GulfStreamV 13th September 2000 19:54

Newbloke,

Cool site, I am responsible for our Fujigroup site, although it still needs some time on it.

www.fujigroup.co.uk

I shall add your site to my links, if thats ok.

See you soon.

GV

rightstuffer 13th September 2000 20:17

I've asked Sherburn Aero Club if they mind us coming and they say they'll be very pleased to see us.

If you could manage PPR by telephone that would be good, if not, then a call to Sherburn radio on 122.6
Church Fenton should be closed on the Saturday, but just in case you're coming from the north, give them or Linton a check call on 126.5

;)

New Bloke 13th September 2000 21:48

what can we do once we are all there?

Looking at each others planes is fine but then what?

Any ideas gratefully accepted

JB007 13th September 2000 22:47

Would love to come, did the PPL at Sherburn but unfortunatly will be stuck in a classroom !

If the weathers good, It's a great place for a BBQ.

Have a good day guys,

Cheers

LowNSlow 14th September 2000 01:06

NewBloke, rightstuffer and Cahliban, thanks for the offer of a lift and the offer of a bunk for the night rightstuffer. The Cub is based at Rush Green (tiny-549m x 8m, invisible grass strip next to a car scrapyard 5 miles West of Luton) so it's enroute for Newbloke but I can also tie in with Cahliban cos it's close to Stevenage.
How about following Beagler's idea and having a gathering of Pprunes (a vine? a can? a bowl?) at a suitable hostelry on the Friday pm?

I've posted a message in the Pprune Bashes Forum to see if any of the jet drivers / crew are interested in coming along.

NewBloke, excellent crack about HungryPilot :) :)

Just had the news that a Friday night away is verboten that weekend so I'll have to settle for the Saturday fly-in. B*gger

LowNSlow

Is that the one just down the road from the Lyton Arms near Old Knebworth? I used to live in Datchworth and the Lyton was one of my favorite watering holes.

If you could send me some plates, (homemede of course) I will check our insurance and give it a go. Other than that, you could drive to Panshangar and I will pick you up there.
