He can be whoever he wants. The principle remains the same. Insults, and all kinds of abuse are not acceptable. On this or any other forum. PPRuNe Pop Moderator [email protected] |
The main PPRuNe forums don't really mention non-airways flying.
I have to confess to taking up a little plane recently and just navigating with a map. All nav aids off and the GPS back in the boot of the car. Nothing wrong with it guys! |
I'd like to know which airline, if any, Hungry pilot works for, as i would do my best to stay away from them.....i thought professional pilots, were exactly that PROFESSIONAL..........makes me wonder!
|
All I can say is that I am glad those Airbuses are flown by computers with nutcases like Hungry Joe Pilot up the pointed end
|
All I can say to Hungry Pilot is that he'd better hope that I’m always professional when in my "little toy".
You never know when your sharing the same airspace as me and its amazing the mess a C172/PA28 can make of an A330 should I happen to be flying like the "little head case" I'm apparently described as. It’s not just CPL/ATPL's that have to fly safely and professionally to avoid accidents. Regards UA |
Flying Lawyer - thanks - I needed to be rapped about my bad attitude - you're quite right about non-gender issues when it comes to flying. I'd just got stuck in that mindset that says that flying tends to be another male-dominated area, and I can see that that is certainly NOT the case any more. Apologies. But that's precisely why I came to this forum - to learn such things!!
BTW - Just had my 1st flying lesson today and am totally hooked, so will soon be joining the ranks of the PPs hopefully. Waiting to find out about a disabled scholarship. |
Flying Pig. If you really want to know: I'm a Captain for Monarch Airlines based in LGW on the A330, just moved over from the right seat. I wouldn't let you within ten yards of my flight deck anyway, for fear of having to listen to your mind numbing stories of GA flying and how you gained your bl00dy PPL.
 Unusual Attitude. I'm glad I DON'T have to deal with YOU people. Luckily, I fly well above the altitudes that your flying rust buckets start to cough and splutter. The only time that I do have to share the same airspace as you is protected by the holy TMA...thank f*ck for that. http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif |
Hungry
If you think about it you would have to let us within ten yards of your flight deck. If, and when, you ever became a A330 captain... |
Hungry Pilot,
As you say you are based on the A330 at LGW, you probably get to fly out to the USA... forgive me if Monarch use different equipment for the Atlantic Routes... anyway when you land at an American Airport you will probably mix with GA aircraft with PPL's flying them. What will you do then? Also, just because you are based at Gatwick, that doesn't mean you won't fly from another, less busy, Class D airport in the UK. When that time does arrive and you find yourself waiting at the hold for an incoming PA28R descending on the ILS with an IFR clearance (you don't necessarily need a full blown IR to fly IFR within Class D airpsace, an IMC Rating is sufficient), will you cringe until I've passed you, just in case I plunge the Arrow into the side of your A330, thus causing a lot of damage, if not loss of life? Many airports in the UK are located within Class D airspace with nothing but Open FIR in the surrounding area... thus you may well be operating your Airbus in Open FIR where Recreational GA Pilots don't even need to have their Transponder turned on (if they have one) and are legally entitled to fly around without communicating with ATC... hope your lookout is as good as theirs. You will also be low and slow as you'd be climbing/descending towards your FL/Destination Airport respectively. As for PPL's not being Professional... I, together with all other PPL's out there, make every effort to be professional in the conduct of any flight... from the pre-flight to shut down and securing the aircraft. I'm studying for the JAR ATPL Ground Examinations at the moment, so one day I might be flying alongside you, talking about my fun experiences of gaining my PPL, then the long and laborious process of gaining the CPL/IR... will delve into my flying holidays in the states... Every Airline Pilot I have met has been very interested, if not active, with the GA scene... most of them instruct PPL's during their time off, own their own aircraft etc... just so they can gain some "real and pure" flying time. Some even ask if they can go along for a ride with me in a real airplane. You don't here "Professional Drivers" such as Coach drivers, complaining about "Recreational Drivers"... although they probably would have a right to... but pilots are all trained to a recognised sylabus, even if you gained your CPL/IR on an CAP509 course you would have followed the PPL Syllabus in the outset... how many other ways are there to get a student pilot to the "solo" stage? ------------------ -- If god had wished us to fly, he would have issued us with airline tickets... |
Hungry.
As another point... The Airbus is nutoriously known for its poor performance during the climb towards the higher Flight Levels... even a typically loaded Airbus A340 is slower and lower on a SID than, say a Boeing aircraft. Some say they should degrade the Airbus to the same class of traffic as say a Cessna Citation which many PPL/IR's fly Single Pilot-IFR (more likely to encounter one in the states though). Do you class them as "Unprofessional" because they don't receive payment to fly? But I musn't complain about the Airbus aircraft as I might one day be flying an aircraft manufactured by our Airbus friends, I'll wait until I have experience on one. ------------------ -- If god had wished us to fly, he would have issued us with airline tickets... |
Well, what a sorry start to a new forum!.
Hungry (Frustrated) Pilot you are a sad individual. I suggest this topic to be closed. 007 ------------------ Hear all....see all....say n'owt ! |
Hungry Pilot,
I suggest that your posts indicate a psychiatric state which should preclude your being in charge of anything more dangerous than a plastic tricycle. I shall certainly try to avoid Monarch in the future. |
Well, this is what i come home to after a trip! I know this is a new forum but as was mentioned earlier in the thread you have to learn to ignore the posts from the likes of Hungry Pilot. Read the red writing at the bottom of this and every page.
Hungry Pilot knows exactly how to endear himself to you all. You are only feeding his addiction to being the cause of your anger by trying to respond reasonably. Welcome to the world of PPRuNe. Unfortunately it is inhabited with some people who can only get their gratification by denegrating others. Hungry Pilot, either moderate your language and insults and leave the wind ups to good natured banter. We all love a good wind up but you have shot yourself in the foot with this one by reverting to the gutter. Oh and by the way... I KNOW you are not an Airbus Captain for Spotty M. maybe on Flight Sim 2000 you are but this is the real world. Don't bother answering to this message as I am likely to say "he who protests too much has something to hide." PPL's, you asked for a forum and you now have one and hopefully it won't need a dedicated moderator but please realise that PPRuNe has always had its hooligan element and if you want to be in here with the commercial pilots you can expect some stick from time to time. Before you jump in and start typing a reply just scroll down to the bottom of the page, read the red writing and then THINK what is more likely to get up someones nose if they act like Hungry Pilot... a tit for tat respnse or to totally ignore him? What is hungry pilot trying to get you to do? By replying what are you doing for him? Just a word of friendly advice for this new forum. ------------------ Capt PPRuNe The Professional Pilots RUmour NEtwork [This message has been edited by Capt PPRuNe (edited 22 August 2000).] |
TikkiRo, your attitude is just fine. You were right, flying is male dominated on the whole, and if you look back on PPRuNe you'll find several anti-female threads in the last couple of months. But I wouldn't bother looking if I were you. The majority of PPRuNeRs, male and female, aren't like that. But don't put on rose coloured spectacles yet. Just wait till you get your PPL, fly somewhere with a male passenger, do all the flying, all the radio, book in, buy fuel - and everyone assumes he's the pilot. It's happened to me several times. And to most other female pilots I know.
|
People - don't be wound up by HP, listen to the Capt Pprune - and welcome one and all.
There are many professionally qualified pilots who don’t fly the heavy metal, and many who do drive the big stuff who enjoy nothing more than dusting off their DH82 or glider on their days off, and getting back to some ‘real’ flying. Well-done Danny for giving this important part of our industry a forum. ------------------ There are no second prizes in a low flying competition [This message has been edited by Thermal Bandit (edited 22 August 2000).] |
Rightstuffer, sorry for the late reply, I've been knock the old Cub into shape. :)
Glad the Cap'n has given us our own forum, let's hope we don't get too mant prats like that so called A300 driver. :P ------------------ When the wheels stop turning you're high enuff. CubTrek. To slowly go... |
Remember this thread anybody? Haven't seen some of the Ppruners in it for a looong time.
It does show that apart from Hungry Pilot the following 5 years (my God where did THEY go) have been very civilised compared to to some other forums. |
Slow day at work then LnS?
|
Wow, LownSlow, that takes me back a bit. I'd amost forgotten I was once known as R22. I wonder what happened to them all...RightStuffer, TikkiRo....and even Hungry Pilot. The last of those, I seem to remember I got rid of quite thoroughly on another thread...are you going to find that one too? :)
|
Wow
Didn't even know this thread existed!
Not very nice that there are people like that, but that's life. After all - where would we be without all the input from us PPL's - or soon to be :p |
