If you are brave you could ask Lakenheath if they would let you land
lakenheath airfield - Google Maps

They have a nice 9 hole and some good shopping facilities - if you can make it past the armed guards ;)

Golf Clubs

Denham - Right next to one, you can hop over the fence afterparking up by the tower!!!. Plus you have at least 10 courses an a 5 miles radius including the infamous Northwood Golf club (as featured on TV) The courses of Moor Park, Uxbridge, Rickmansworth

If your talking south east, then why not nip over to L2K? Bell Dune is a couple of kilometers away and it will add a bit more to the day out! Actually there is a course next to Lydd, never played it though so cant comment on the course.

There's a couple of golf courses at Le Touqet as well, if you fancy something across the water.

Manston - North Foreland, about 10 minutes by taxi, top notch course, pre open qualifier, best avoid a windy day!

Jersey and Guernsey have excellent courses. Nothing far on either.

Alderney has a 9 hole thats more than worth while for something a little different.

Shoreham - West Hove or the Dyke, both 10 minutes by taxi.

Hammerwood Helipad - Home - a mile and a half from Holtye golf course.

Not in East Anglia but there is Roserrow, Cornwall? Never played there but plan to at some point. Land on the strip, walk over a couple of the fairways to the hotel and club house.... nice!

Are there any other strips (not in the South) where the course is immediately next it?

Artistic Intention 9th February 2011 20:57

Also Rosemarket near Milford Haven in South Wales. You land on one of the fairways there. It's in Lockyears.

In the mid 90's I used to camp at a site in France called Chateau des Ormes (just outside St. Malo) It had a wonderful golf course (won my first ever trophy there), and a small airstrip, and it was a pipe-dream of mine to learn to fly, fly over one weekend, play 18 holes, then fly back. Well now I am studying for a PPL, I dcided to see if I could find out some more info about flying there. Alas, this has drawn a blank, so maybe the airstrip is no longer in use. If anyone has any information on it, please let me know.

RAF Henlow - you have to transit the golf course to get from the Air Cadet hangers to the airfield itself - a slightly nerve wracking experience.
The airfield is 24h PPR, not sure about the golf course PPR arrangements though!

Farnborough: golf course is just across the roundabout from the main gate and walking distance.(or you could try to borrow a golf cart from the marshallers!!)
