Possible.

Rallye Driver 17th May 2004 18:02

I'll be there as a home-based pilot. Not sure the Bulldog's alternator will be fixed in time though.

RD

AerBabe 17th May 2004 19:12

I suppose I'd better drag myself over and show my face...

TonyR 17th May 2004 20:09

AirBabe,

I thought you would have a PPRuNe tent sorted.

We will be in from Belfast in the TB20, would be nice to meet a few other PPRuNers

Tony

vintage ATCO 17th May 2004 20:39

Hey, Airbabe, I thought we had a date!? ;)

I'll be in ATC, I may be let out to be fed. :D

TonyR 17th May 2004 21:03

Hi there vintage ATCO,

If your in the tower at 10.30 remember those of us who have been up there for a couple of hours and might need a pee.

I'll land long or short or anywhere but no long holds please.

TB20, G-TOAK

Bribary is a wonderful invention . . . .

Flyboy-F33 17th May 2004 21:37

Me and Mrs Flyboy are planning a Saturday visit. Havn't booked a slot yet though :hmm:

GG

AerBabe 17th May 2004 22:16

Vintage ATCO: You don't need to make a date with me, just whistle. :ok: Will you be stuck up the tower all day, or will you be allowed time out for good behaviour?

Can someone who knows the layout of Aerofair suggest a sensible place to meet at 12 ish for orange juice?

Flyin'Dutch' 18th May 2004 05:09

The few times that I have been there was no beer tent or something of that ilk.

May be we could meet in the Flyer tent.

FD

rustle 18th May 2004 07:09

What time are the presentations in the Flyer tent?

Flyin'Dutch' 18th May 2004 07:21

Dunno but will enquire.

FD

Rallye Driver 18th May 2004 07:28

As the Aerofair is over on the market site again this year, The Squadron buildings will be closed, but they will have a marquee selling beer, soft drinks etc and the BBQ outside on the Aerofair site. Last year it was down towards 02/20.

Meet there at 12-ish?

RD

TonyR 18th May 2004 07:33

Perhaps someone who owns a PPRuNe hat could be there first and we'll all find each other.

Tony

AerBabe 18th May 2004 07:50

Well, I'm coming with Eveepee, so you can't miss two hot chicks. :hmm: :D

They'll be held at noon on Saturday; you're all welcome to use our wigwam as a meeting point whenever, we should be able to do coffee etc.

Look forward to seing you all then.

Might pop in by road, although I must confess that I was somewhat less than whelmed by the event when I visited in a previous year by air (very good ATC though).

Rallye Driver, it's a pain about the alternator on the Dog isn't it? I was reduced to flying scruffy old G-IPUP the other day, but it's a sweet old thing (I did my skill test in it a few years ago, after first solo in G-TSKY) . Are you one of the Dog's owners, or just one of Roger's renters like me?

Flyin'Dutch' 18th May 2004 08:30

The Flyer awards are going to be handed out on Saturday at noon so that may make gathering there a bit less easy.

The venue mentioned by RD may be a better option if we want to stick to 1200.

FD

Rallye Driver 18th May 2004 08:38

FNG

Yes, I'm a 'rent boy' so to speak!

We had the alternator fail on us going to Abingdon Fayre, but the low voltage light didn't come on, so we ended up losing radios, flaps, everything.

I gather they now need a fixing bracket.

It always happens when the weather gets better. At least it's looking good for the weekend this time.

RD :ok:

TonyR 18th May 2004 09:04

The Squadron marquee it is then 1200

c u there

FD, that assumes we are not going to see Ian Fallon get his gong for NotamPlot -- I would have thought that time and location made it a good place to meet :D

Flyin'Dutch' 18th May 2004 10:29

R,

I thought that a man of your standing could be in 2 places at once!

Darn, another dream shattered!

Others suggested the time, I just thought it would be difficult to find each other when the Flyer awards are being handed out.

Of course will I go and see Ian get the award.

FD

AerBabe 18th May 2004 10:33

Okay... so how about initially at the Flyer tepee at 12 noon and the Squadron at 1300? I'm not sure how late I'll be staying as I've got to go estate agent hunting after. :ok:

Flyin'Dutch' 18th May 2004 10:36

AB,

An excellent idea!

Would take a woman to sort out these blokes, wouldn't it!

FD

TonyR 18th May 2004 10:38

I hate these "organised" meetings so its now 1200 & 1300 thats fine.

AerBabe 18th May 2004 10:57

I think it's a little unlikely that you'd 'bump' into PPRuNers at these events, unless you knew them already & could spot them at a distance. Some of them you can easily spot at a distance, but we won't go there........

vintage ATCO 18th May 2004 11:52

I think I can be let out for one of the meets but probably not both. I'll try and make the Flyer tent at 1200.

stiknruda 18th May 2004 16:02

Just spoken to the lovely Samantha H and now possess clearance numbers for my chum and I to arrive from the north.

Our slot time is 1230-1245 local on Sat.

See you all on saturday, either in The Squadron beer tent or on the PZL stand.

Mike Cross 18th May 2004 21:49

I shall be on the Pi**t stand on all three days but will slope off to see Ian get his gong.

futurshox 19th May 2004 18:31

Too bad most of you are going on the Saturday. I'm planning on Sunday!

formationfoto 20th May 2004 07:54

I will be around from about mid day Fri through Sat and Sun working with one of the mags. If 'allowed out' and to visit the competition will try and get to the temporary Seager towers at mid day.

Wide-Body 20th May 2004 08:53

Is it PPR to fly in?

FNG 20th May 2004 08:55

Yes Wide, and you need an ATC slot (NW Radio is promoted to NW Tower, with special joining procedures for the duration of the show. There is an AIC about it somewhere.)

Might you be at WW on Friday PM?

Edit: Otherwise, if you want to fly in and can get a slot, can I please come with? The Cap 10 is busy frightening the punters this weekend.

Kolibear 21st May 2004 11:32

If you are planning to fly in, then the AIC and full details are on the Aerofair website.

TonyR 21st May 2004 19:44

Is there a Squadron marquee? or does it not have a name?

Had some friends arrived today but did not see one.

Weather looks good for tomorrow anyway.

CBG 21st May 2004 20:29

I'll be there too on Saturday. I have never been to any PPRUNE bashes (I was living abroad), I therefore don't know any of you but would like to. Should we all carry a copy of the Times and wear a bowler Hat?!

AerBabe 21st May 2004 22:29

Hmm... my t-shirt is a common aid to identification, but I decided it would be prudent NOT to wear it on this occasion, in case networking opportunities arise. Just ask the rowdy lot if they PPRuNe. The answer is likely to be 'yes'. :ok:

Rallye Driver 22nd May 2004 08:22

The Squadron marquee is at the far end of the display line on the left, next to the main runway. Thee is a BBQ outside. If you go past the tailwheel Yak 52 and look to your left you should see it.

The Flyer stand is at the other end of the line just next to the main exhibition tent.

Hope to see some of you there.

RD :ok:
