Flying alongside a tornado

The circle shaped lake is here https://goo.gl/maps/CQJQCGxcJdN2

(just found that, was not aboard)

It is incredible footage, but flying that close to a mature thunderstorm seems like madness to me, especially in something that probably weights less than 600kg.

I love microlights and I'm fascinated by tornadoes; If / when I go storm chasing, it'll be from the ground in a car

cjm: Same event from the ground

Pilot wrote in comments that on the other side it was 'crystal clear', no gusts and avg. 10kt wind, alas no imminent danger.
Would not "board" anyway :).

That is so cool. I've only ever seen one tornado - well, it was just a funnel cloud really - and I'd be like a big kid if I got the chance to see one that close. It must be incredibly rare to see twin vortices too, particularly in mainland Europe.
