Paint a picture....

Alright, it's christmas. So based on absolutely no evidence what so ever I thought I'd write how I imagine everyone on here. Just from your posts this is how I imagine you:

Backpacker: Dark haired, almost Italian looking. Spends a lot of time in the club house drinking biertjes. Lives in a backpacker dorm in Amsterdam.

Gertrude the wombat: 60s and hairy. Has webbed feet and is very good at swimming.

WhirlyBird: Fairly militeristic and invariably correct all of the time. Can rotate her head 360 degrees like an owl

IO540: Drives a banged up ford modeo stuffed FULL of aviation charts. Loads of parking tickets on the back sea, a bit like the start to "The Gaffer".. Is unbeatable at trivial pursuit. and always right. Empties quiz machines of their contents.

Fuji Abound: Cool dude. Always has a torch on him. Spends a lot of time in the Carribean and at bar-b-cues.

BRL: Slicked back hair. Always wanted to be a judge but found himself policing the pilot zoo that is pprune instead

bose-x: Slickest man on the block. Has the coolest of everything. You got a 50" plasma tv ? He's got 52". Sharp suited

SoCal App: Californian, chilled out, laid back dude. Only drinks Californian wine and has a massive swimming pool in his house

G-EMMA: G-EMMA is actually Nigella Lawson's pprune login

StickNRudda: Loves real ale, has a beard, loves folk museum. Is often seen at beer festivals

172Driver: Looks like a bus driver, with a bus driver's cap.

dublinpilot: Very stern, military type. Hard drinking, hard flying.

modelman: Was the inspiration behind the Santander advert featuring Lewis Hamilton. Still has his right hand round the wrong way but manages to fly anyway

FrightLevel: 50s pilot. Likes pretending, in front of non flying pax, that he's having a heart attack on final just to see their faces.

PilotDAR: Related to Joe 90. Wear's the same glasses and everything. Even walks like him even though he doesn't have strings.

PompeyPaul: Fratton end season ticket holding, Stella drinking PITA. Wait, that's actually right!

Probablt way off in my visualisation of you all. But hey. Merry XMAS to everyone and safe flying in 2009!

Thats one awesome bird sh@t on the side of the Turbo commander AC690 picture! (bottom middle)

BackPacker 23rd Dec 2008 09:54

Brilliant! Inaccurate, but brilliant!

Are we supposed to reveal our true looks and characters now, or are we happy with the picture that PP painted?

(But just for reference, if you see a group of backpackers between Christmas and New Years eve in east-Luxembourg (Mullerthal trail), chances are that one of them is me.)

Happy holidays!

Pompey Paul

I often wonder and try and get a mental impression of the people who post here.

Even more frightening is the fact that maybe we are talking to some posters that we know well real world but dont realise it in these forums.

G-EMMA

I love your Christmas souffle with 3 cheeses on stale french bread!

Can I fly with you?

Joe 90 is my idol!

Brilliant, very accurate! and brilliant!

Pompey Paul, buy yourself the beer I'd buy you if I were there!

The description is right on, other than the glasses are only for keeping in the information that I gain by reading! The day to day stuff still seems to stay in there without too much help.

When Joe 90 first came to Canadian TV, I was stunned to realize that something could compete with my attention to the Thunderbirds! I still watch the videos with my 5 year old! I was looking at my Joe 90 Annual books just the other day! (and I have ALL of the Dinky Toys!)

I have also wondered if I am encountering PPRuNers in day to day life, but on my side of the Atlantic, I think I'm fairly safe! It has occurred to me to come to the UK for a PPRuNe bash, and meet everyone, but I've yet to see the ideal opportunity. One day....

In the mean time, I suppose I owe a photo....

Merry Christmas PPRuNers, and good job Pompey Paul!

50% accurate!

StickNRudda: Loves real ale, has a beard, loves folk museum. Is often seen at beer festivals

The first 50%!

loves Snap-On tools. Is often seen with a 3/8" flank-drive ratchet spanner in his grubby mit.

I think it is actually worse when you really do know what other PF Ppruners look like!:p

modelman 23rd Dec 2008 17:32

Absolutely brilliant! Laughing my a$$ off.

Merry Christmas, mate.

Hum,

You're just showing off :):):)

Whirlybird 23rd Dec 2008 19:17

WhirlyBird: .....invariably correct all of the time. Can rotate her head 360 degrees like an owl
I wish!!!! Having eyes in the back of my head would be useful and fun

I think it is actually worse when you really do know what other PF Ppruners look like!
I was hoping that you were posting this at the very moment I was posting my picture, and not after consideration, but alas it was not so! Well at least you'll know if to encounter either me, or my plane.

In regard to other's preferences, my gift to you all is not posting a photo of me holding a Dinky Toy Joe 90 car!

Merry Christmas fellow PPRuNers!

stickandrudderman 24th Dec 2008 08:50

Conratulations for one of the best posts of the year!
No bickering or slanging matches!
I am feeling rather left out though!:(

Lister Noble 24th Dec 2008 12:19

A bit like being left out of "Who's who?"
;)

PompeyPaul 24th Dec 2008 12:44

Sorry folks!

Sorry folks. I only wrote them for people I had an impression of, i.e. anybody I'd debated topics with :ok:

will5023 24th Dec 2008 17:01

Just got back and read this, made me laugh out, judging from the photo's we have a few aviation related friends !

Merry Xmas Will.

bedding down on the farm for Christmas....

Pilot DAR 24th Dec 2008 23:43

It's Christmas eve, and so what do my wife and kids want to do (as we're touring through Florida rather than at home in Canada)? They're out bathing suit shopping. Apparently "Ron's" is open to serve prospective bathers 24-365. It's the United States, a country where the merchants know their market!

So that leaves me with my daughter's computer, and a little unexpected quiet time. In the midst of the multitude of PPRuNe offerings of aviation wisdom, and some other kinds of "wisdom", Pompey Paul has reminded us that there is a higher importance than aviation, and that's the people of aviation.

While I was just typing my wisdom of debatable value into hyperspace, Pompey Paul was actually noticing that there was a person of debatable character behind my, and so many other's, posts. What an honourable achievement! It's so easy to forget that there are people out there, as we sit tucked away in our computer rooms slagging away!

So how can we salute this remarkable accomplishment in consideration of others? At the very least, I hope this thread somehow becomes a sticky for a while - not because it needs to be, just because it deserves to be! It certainly would be a shame if the rest of those of us who were so carefully considered, missed the opportunity to participate! So wizards of sticky, please consider this my Christmas wish!

I know that it won't be long before another industry shattering subject will come up, and we will all go to our corners, and come out as eloquent and empassioned as ever. In the mean time, I appreciate being considered as a person, and I will remind myself to behave as one next year. A week in the Caribbean with no internet awaits me. I'm sure that the Caribbean will offer many charms, but I'm hoping that one will be the odd internet cafe on little islands, at which we come to port.

In the mean time, Pompey Paul, would you honour us with a chapter two? I can think of a few more participants, on both sides of last season's slagging matches, who are equally entitled to "the treatment"!

Merry Christmas,

Pilot DAR

From PPs last post

Sorry folks. I only wrote them for people I had an impression of,
it maybe needs some other people to give an impression of who they think is behind the mask - not allowed to someone you actually know though.
