fish Redhill Airshow Anyone?

Seeing as there are a lot of PPRuNe Private Fliers in the area, I assume we're all going to the Redhill airshow next weekend? PW and I will be somewhere in the marquee (if possible, near an ice-cream vendor) around 12pm, should you wish to join us. If it's not very hot I'll be wearing my ... errr... red t-shirt. If it is very hot, I won't. (I will be wearing something else, however ).

Does anyone know whether I'm allowed to come too? Or do I have to sit at home while Dad and his bird go and have fun?

Ahh, same weekend as the Eastbourne air-show thingy. Do you have a link for this Redhill one or any details as to whats happening?

Redhill Airshow

I am returning from the International Ladies Cup (No sniggering!) and should be landing mid-afternoon on Sunday. I'll head for the beer tent!

Hersh has clearly got weekend backstage passes to V2203... but will be attempting to merge this startstruck activity with a Sunday visit to the old homestead airshow... 12pm by the BEER tent, if you don't mind, Ms Babe.

I'll be there!

Out on the field wearing a yellow jacket waving my arms in the air trying to get everything parked in neat lines!

No mention on the websites of PPR or slot times, or indeed closure times for the airshow. On the day is it just normal PPR requirements?

Redhill is always PPR, preferably by telephone. Slots are not required to fly in, and the "closing" times for the airshow proper have been notified by NOTAM:

AGA : FROM 03/08/17 08:00 TO 03/08/17 19:00 L1846/03
E)FLY-IN AND AIR DISPLAY. NON PARTICIPATING ACFT MAY BE DELAYED.
and
NAVW: FROM 03/08/17 12:30 TO 03/08/17 15:30 H5094/03
E) AUS (MIL REF) 03-08-0043/2786/ML AIR DISPLAY. FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLT LANCASTER, HURRICANE AND SPITFIRE, DISPLAYS BY VINTAGE AND PROP DISPLAY TEAM WI 2NM RAD PSN 5113N 00008W (REDHILL, SURREY).
F)SFC G)2000FT AGL
My reading is that you shouldn't have too much trouble, just make sure you've got a bit of spare fuel in case you're delayed for a while, and if you arrive at exactly the wrong time, you might want to lob in to Biggin to save a few notes. Interestingly the Red Arrows flypast hasn't been NOTAM'd yet (or if it has then I can't find it) although as it is "only" a flypast and not a full display, it's only going to last ten minutes at most.

Come along and have fun!

MD.

Thanks MD.
Sunday is my wedding anniversary, and Mrs Slip does not share my enthusiasm for flying .... negotiations could be sticky

Tell her there's a great restaurant just up the road. You'll take her there for wining and dining afterwards. Of course, because you can't drink and fly, you'll have to stay somewhere terribly posh overnight too...
There you go. No more excuses.

I had a chat with the ATCOs at Redhill on Sunday about our return from the Netherlands and they didn't see too much of a challenge. I volunteered to land at Biggin and leave the aircraft there for a day or so and return mid-week, but they said it wouldn't be a problem to fly-in on the Sunday.

I was always happier when this was billed as "Fly-in and Garden Party". Any way all visitors welcome and, if possible, PPR via the Redhill Aerodrome web site.

Flash, will the hair or the Yak be the main attraction?

You should have kept the escort. It would have made a fantastic vintage car to show!

Here's one I'm sure you've not been asked before...

Does anyone who's planning on coming have any empty (or full, I'm not fussy) glass bottles of the beer/alcopop variety? I'm guessing they're 330 ml capacity. Any colour glass. If so, can I have them please?
I'm also after CDs that you don't want. Anything that's come free with a mag and you were going to chuck in the bin.

Thanks......

Cool

Why do people always have accidents when I want to be somewhere else ???

Finally managed to get to Redhill at about 1500hrs and popped into the Tower for a chat. Didnt those lads do well !

Arrived just in time to hear Gatwick give its take-off clearance to the Nimrod and then see it climb out followed by a trail of black A1 smoke !

It then gave the Redhill controlers a bit of a surprize when it over flew the airfield from the wrong direction....but what the heck....didnt the old lady look good ! ! !

Managed to see a a wondeful display by the turbs and then it was back to the grind !

Think I'll book the day off next year......
