FAA IR & IMC revalidation

If you have an IMC rating issued on basis of ICAO IR do you have to revalidate by proficiency check with examiner as with other IMC holders?

Just curious, as my IMC revalidation is up towards the end of the year, and as it was issued on the basis of a valid ICAO IR, with no need to undergo test or exams, then I assume it should be possible to re-validate without test so long as the IR is still valid.

Grateful to hear from anyone who's been through the process...
