Your chance to buy a Spitfire........

I was sad to learn recently that the d/day RAF museum at Shoreham airport is closing and all the contents are to be sold off.
There is a Spitfire outside a full scale replica complete with a small motorbike engine to make the prop turn..!! This is being sold/auctioned and the minimum bid is £7000. Everything is being sold, there are loads of things all to do with the war.

All the details are HERE and look down for the Museum of d-day aviation link.

At the other end of the scale there was a short piece on BBC Look East last night about a Canadian guy who has bought one of Historic Aviation's Spitfires (MK 912) for £1.2 million. Apparently he's just won $240 million from Disney in damages. With that sort of money he could probably buy ALL the surviving Spitfires. Oh and he bought a Harvard so he could get up to speed before checking out on the Spitfire. Envious.....Moi?

If he received US$240 million from Disney in damages (presumably for personal injury?), I'm surprised that he is in good enough shape to pass a pilot medical examination!

He is a charming gentleman and is in an acquisitional frame of mind.

MK 912 is going to a very good home and will have appropriate hangar companions in due course.

I HAVE SAID TOO MUCH!!

Canadian L,
Why presume it was personal injury? In fact the legal case was about exploitation of intellectual property.BBC news report refers...
