JAR licence wants to fly in US

Very quick question....

I hold a valid JAR PPL and JAR class II medical.

I will be living in San Diego (USA) for the summer and want to do some pleasure flying while I'm there.

What do I need to do to fly in the US?

I think I need to convert my JAR licence to a FAA one, but not sure, and if so how do I go about doing it.

Any replies appreciated.

Paul.
