Re Seaplane Landings Uk
Hi All
Someone on another forum, has asked, are there any seaplane landing strips or areas still available to use, in the UK.
Although I have a database of over 200 seaplane anchorages, Bases & Harbours. I'm not sure if any are usable now.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards Martin Burney

I was talking to someone the other day who said he'd got his seaplane rating in the UK. But there aren't any licensed water aerodromes in the UK, I said. Ah, he said, they licensed a bit of water specially for me just for the weekend it took.
Can't remember who it was now, though.

Dont think posting URLs is allowed but check out a UK company called CaledonianSeaplanes who operate float equipped Super Cubs from Loch Earn (in Scotland) and various other Scottish Lochs as marked on the Scottish half mill chart. They only do floatplane ratings not ab initio training on floats so it does not need to be licensed - only the permission of the owner needs to be obtained.
