Currency

My co-owner of G-BHIB has exceeded the 90 day rule due to exceptional circumstances. Does he have to perform 3 landings solo to regain currency or can I (current PPL) fly with him acting as a 'safety pilot'??

He can either fly the three circuits solo or with an instructor. If you are not an instructor and fly with him in an aircraft certified for one pilot, then in legal terms, that makes you a passenger and the flight illegal.

Why do it if it's not fun?

Of course, he can fly with you as your passenger, and you could, as P1, allow him to handle the controls.

He won't be allowed to log the flight, of course, so he'll still need to go up without passengers to regain his official currency. But if he's unsure of himself, and there's no instructor available, this might be a good way of getting him flying again?
