Jan 1st Compton / Popham

The weather looks like filth at the moment for New Years Day, but if it's any good, I'll be going to Popham and / or Compton, along with a number of other aircraft from Eggesford. Anyone else planning to go?

I think even if the weather is bad, it's worth DRIVING to any open airfield near your home and spending a bit of money on lunch, etc. Airfields must be really suffering due to the weather, so I think it's worth spending some money in their cafes if they are prepared to be open and pay staff to at least try and have a fly-in on Jan 1st. If enough people turned up and the weather is rubbish, you'd probably have a reasonable time anyway - well better than sitting at home cursing the weather.

Hi Irv,

3.5 hours drive to Popham would be a bit too painful. Good sentiment though.

Actually it's not a bad New Years Resolution for the whole of the year - bad weather weekend? Make a point of going to spend money at your local airfield's cafe!

1.1.03

Anybody know of a 1.1.03 fly-in in the Midlands/ Southern area that has good catering and a hard runway?
