Books & Schools

Does anyone have any info on Anglo- American Aviation in San Diego, I am considering visiting them to get my PPL next year.
As I understand it, their course is JAA which means no hassle on return (but I may be wrong).

Also, which set of books do the majority recommend Pratt or Thom?

In order to make use of the savings made on the initial training, if I can stay an extra week, should I take any other ratings or just use the time (and money) to build hours, thoughts please.

With regard to hours building (just for experience), do people tend to go places and stay over or just stay local, are there any do`s and dont`s or cans and cant`s? I appreciate that things will differ slightly between schools but assume there are some general rules.

Thanks
