RNP-1 pooleys

Hi guys,

I’m trying to get hold of a RNP-1 pooleys plotter but as I live in Malta it’s proving difficult due to supply.

To buy from UK stores means paying twice over for postage. Does anyone know of any European online stores that are reliable?

Appreciate it.

These guys are reliable: https://pilotshop.nl
I haven’t checked whether they have this plotter in stock and where they ship to. You can always give them a call and ask.

Edit: it's on their website here: https://pilotshop.nl/contents/en-us/...1_Plotter.html

If you can't get a Pooleys stockist to supply to you, Transair do an effectively identical product

https://transair.co.uk/pilot-supplie...gation-plotter

As do AFE

https://afeonline.com/product/afe-avp-1-vfr-ifr-plotter

As I keep losing and replacing mine, I've used all three, and there's nothing to choose between them.

Thank you for your replies but unfortunately all of these companies charge around £20 plus for postage to Malta.

If money's that tight, good luck affording the flying!

Also however, try eBay, they come up regularly, and you'll just pay whatever the agreed postage is with the seller.

Also, buy two. The one you'll use, and the one you'll use after you've dropped the first one under the seat in the middle of the skill test. Trust me, I know!

If anyone dared to produce a plotter during a skill test with a certain examiner I know, it would have been snatched away and tossed in the back.
Lay a pencil on the chart , slide to the nearest VOR rose and estimate it, was his acceptable method, too much head down otherwise!

The man sounds like an @rse best avoided. Let the candidate demonstrate acceptable cockpit management with their chosen tools, or not. Dictating how they may do that is out of order.

Sounds eminently sensible. I recall testing a student who was a serving RN helicopter pilot. On the practice diversion he produced more and more strange devices from his bag for such a simple task (our checklist had a laminated back with a 1/2 mill distance scale along one edge - draw line with chinagraph on map, look out, measure distance and note on back of checklist, parallel the track to a VOR rose and draw a line to the radial scale, look out, read off track and note on back of checklist, use MDR wind and simple arithmetic to calculate heading and time to diversion). He did OK, but afterwards I told him that I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd produced a parallel rule and brass dividers from his treasure trove of matelots' devices!

Flying since 2001, no newbie here.

Not to worry.
