Hm, I was taught mostly by ultralight instructors, whose school insisted on using every foot of runway available. So I was about to have my say, until I realised it is mostly a squibble between old men who above all want to be in the right. Not very useful. Growing old myself, I am surprised at seeing my increasing ability to keep my big mouth shut (not without thinking more abuse than ever, though).
