Conflict of Interest?

After a pretty humiliating time last week (not suitable for sharing on PPRUNE I think), I was wondering...

Is it common/reasonable/good practise for the fleet owner, airfield operator, CFI and examiner to be one and the same person?

It's certainly not the norm but also it's not that uncommon.

With the exception of owning the airfield, a lot of flying schools ahve started up with one chap or chapess who is the fleet operator, CFI, chief bottle washer etc.....
