RPL to PPL

Hi all,

I currently have a RPL and am turning 17 soon and plan on getting my PPL.

I'm wondering how many hours are required to make the transition? I'm also wondering what it covers in terms of training, other than controlled airspace and navigation? Also would it be more cost effective to save and do all of my training in a short time frame or if I should train over a longer time frame (I work on weekends and don't have a hell of a lot of money)?

Look forward for your thoughts!

-Bryan

Assuming that you have an RPL with no other endorsements the syllabus to continue on to a PPL is fairly standard. Something like this https://rvac.com.au/pages/becoming-a-pilot
"Students already holding a RPL will require an additional 20 to 30 hours of flight training, including 5 hours of solo cross country navigation." Seems to be good guidance rather than just quoting the minimum required by CASA.

So, next thing to do is to call a local flight school or two and ask your questions.

PS: you'll get much response at https://www.pprune.org/pacific-gener...-questions-91/

Yeah no endorsements, and 20 to 30 hours sounds pretty decent (glad it’s not more than 30) I’ll get in contact with my club soon, thanks for your help, much appreciated!
