Old Sarum to close..?

Recent news is that Old Sarum has been refused Planning Consent to build houses on their airfield site.
So they are closing the airfield, and I suppose they will re-apply for planning once the site is no longer an airfield. On the grounds that it is then just a Brown Field site on the edge of an existing development.

I think we already had a thread on this matter, recently?
However that may be, it is only one further step in a long march of stupidity.
The UK seems really set on showing stupidity, and behaving accordingly, wherever possible.
