Well these last few topics have been interesting!! So in the interest of finding out more about one another......

How old are you.....and long have you been flying?

I'm 28 years old....29 this Sunday.

A few more of these threads and it won't be worth having a bash to get to know each other - we'll know all there is to know.

For the record, 35 and 8 months of flying.

Fast approaching an age beyond any runway heading (Well Rwy 36 + a bit more.

Now the worrying bit; held licence for 29 years and still trying to amass hours at own expense.

Pet hate = v. young First officers looking about 18 with more hours than me.........

Just approaching 50, started at 16 on gliders.

But modest in terms of flying time;
700 launches/60hrs on gliders,
760 hrs PPL time.

...and still learning...

Hi there,

37 in a couple of months time. I have been flying since 97, got the PPL in 98. about 40 hours per year, except for the past year: 192 hours since June 2001! (due to the fact that flying in France is so easy and cheap!).

23 and flying for oooh 14 months or so. Still limping towards the PPL. Feel like I'll never even get an opportunity to even do the QXC, let alone get a licence or any of that fantastical nonsense!

Old enough to know better

But young enough, to enjoy making a fool of myself, again

Oops.... I forgot the second bit .... I got my PPL in 1988

(who said you get more forgetful with age? )

33 years old, first (passenger ) flight in 1972 followed minutes later by the decission to become a pilot which unfortunately took another 12 years to wait. Done more than 1500 flights on more than 50 different types in 12 years since first solo which was August 4th, 1984... (long, long ago in the times when sex was safe and flying was dangerous )

Started flying back in 1985 when I was 12!. As the mathematicians will have worked out, I'm 28 .
Had a few years out as I had covered the course by the time I was 14 and still couldn't go solo. Unfortunately during that time I got the car bug and spent most of my spare cash on that. Got back into it in about '92ish and have flown since then, although nowhere near as much as I would have liked
Really got into the flying thing when I was a kid (about 5)as my dad used to work abroad and my mum and I would get long haul flights when visiting him. That's when I realised I wanted to be a pilot.

25, and pleased to see I'm not the youngest (although Mikey doesn't count, cos he's big enough to make up for it)

Got myself a trial flight on my 22nd birthday. Didn't stop grinning until the next time I flew, 13 months later. I spent that time saving up enough to go solo. Went solo, and couldn't stop.

Took me 20 months and about 58 hours to get my licence, as I had to work evenings and weekends to pay for it.

Now been flying (not including the first trial flight) for 2 years and 4 months, have around 75 hours in my logbook.

Very proud cos the only bit my parents paid for was the postage to send my licence application off to Gatwick. (And that was only because I'd left my wallet at home)
