UK Microlight flying on a CAA PPL?
Hi all, I haven't used the privileges of my CAA PPL for 20 years so I am a bit rusty on all things licencing...
Keen on trying something new, I was wondering what the deal is with flying microlights in the UK with a UK CAA PPL+IMC+Night, issued off the back of a US FAA PPL SEP/IR in 1999?
Could I just get a medical from my local AME, turn up to an ATO and start training as if I never stopped?
Sub-question - I haven't changed the address on my CAA PPL since I joined the RAF in 1999....will they be cross?
It says on the CAA website that there is no charge for a change of address, and from my research on EASA, a microlight is not an EASA type so I shouldn't be charged and forced to convert my National licence - does that sound right?
Thanks!

My recommendation would be to have a chat with the BMAA, as they are the experts on anything to do with flying microlights on any licence.
Contact details here: https://www.bmaa.org/information-library/contact-us
I *think* I know the answer, but I *know* that BMAA will *know* the answer, hence not trying to give one here.

You can self certify the medical; it lasts 5 years.
You will need to do a minimum of 1 hour with an instructor in a 3-axis microlight plus extra if the instructor feels you need it.
If you go weightshift, you will need to do 'differences' training too.
