French NDBs
Recently completed a flight to La Rochelle and could not get a morse ident from any French NDBs. The ADF was working fine in the UK (before and after the trip) and receiving idents from WOD, EAS, etc. The French NDBs appeared to be functioning when compared to VOR/GPS data.
Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

Very simple answer really.
Next time look at the ADF, & see if it has a button or switch marked BFO
Then next time you use a French NDB, just think to yourself "This is a bloody French operation" or as we all say for short, BFO . So, just press in the button marked BFO & then you will hear the ident.
PS I was once told that BFO actually stands for Beat Frequency Occillation, but I prefer my version
