Flying Blind at White Waltham
Little piece from the back of todays Sunday Times (principal section - London edition)
"Pilots who find it difficult to locate the runways at White Waltham airfield in Berkshire have asked residents to paint a white cross on their roofs"
Is this true? Whats going on?
Perhaps instead of white crosses, they should put adverts for opticians

The story made me remember an urban legend that was doing the rounds whilst I was in Aunt Betty's Flying Club.
So annoyed at the constant overflights by Hawk's from RAF Valley, a Welsh farmer (bless!) painted "P1ss Off Biggles" onto a barn roof.
Within weeks it was painted out as it attracted more aircraft than ever before!
"I say, Rupert, have you seen what is written on the barn roof at rho/theta from TACAN xyz?"
Stik
