User Waypoint in CNX80

Also Garmin 480.

I can enter a user waypoint but cannot use it. I want to be able to go direct to the User Waypoint or add it to the flight plan but it does not show up when I select Direct To. I cannot find anything in the book explaining why this is so, could anyone help me with this pesky problem please?

Direct TO
Use Outer Knob to move cursor to highlight waypoint type
Use inner knob to select waypoint type (ALL, INT, NDB, VOR, AIRPORT, USER)
Use Outer knob to scroll back to highlight waypoint name
Use inner knob and outer knob to select waypoint name
Voila

If there is no user waypoints saved the USER option will not be displayed.

Brilliant, thanks for the help. I was trying to rotate the big knob to the right and that does not work; it had to go to the left to start the process but this big dummy could not work that out. Appreciate the assistance!

Having used both, I'm not so sure.

Does depend a bit on the turbulence, I admit, but you learn to brace your thumb against the surround.

Annoyingly (but predictably) my 13 year old knows more about it than I do (e.g. this week he showed me the 'screen cleaning mode' which disables the screen so you can wipe it without pressing stuff)

I have a fair amount of experience on the 430 and like many was rather dubious about the touchscreen 650. However I did my last Instrument renewal on an airplane with the 650 and quickly became a believer

It is a significant advance on the 430 in terms of ease of use and functionality. I later got to fly a 750 and I was blown away.

Garmin has a free download of both units for a touchscreen tablet. If you are interested in buying one test drive the app. Fair warning though, you may find the experience very expensive

The 750 and 650 draw a lot of their functionality from the 480, no wonder they're so much better than the 430.
